Los Angeles: The cast of hit outlaw biker drama 'Sons of Anarchy' is set to reunite for a new FX limited series titled 'Legends', with Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman, Katey Sagal and other original stars returning.

Hunnam, who played biker gang leader Jax Teller in the original series, will be joined by Perlman as Clay, Sagal as Gemma, Maggie Siff as Tara, Mark Boone Junior as Bobby, Tommy Flanagan as Chibs, Kim Coates as Tig and Theo Rossi as Juice.

Unlike a conventional sequel, 'Legends' will blur the line between the actors' real lives and their iconic roles.

The story follows the cast of 'Sons of Anarchy' as they reunite at a fan convention more than a decade after the original series ended, only to find themselves facing a real-world threat more dangerous than anything they encountered on the show.

Hunnam developed the series with Jonathan Groff and will serve as executive producer alongside Groff, Rob Mac, Nicholas Frenkel and Jackie Cohn.

The series is produced by FX Productions and 20th Television.

"When Charlie brought us this inspired idea, we instantly sparked to his bold and entertaining vision," said Nick Grad, FX Entertainment president.

Created by Kurt Sutter, 'Sons of Anarchy' premiered in 2008 and ran for seven seasons and nearly 100 episodes, following the lives of the members of an outlaw motorcycle club and their families in the fictional California town of Charming.

The show's conclusion in 2014 marked the end of Hunnam's run as Jax, who became one of the actor's most recognisable roles.

Hunnam recently received his first Emmy nomination for his starring performance in Netflix's anthology series 'Monster: The Ed Gein Story'.

Beyond 'Sons of Anarchy', his television credits include the Apple TV series 'Shantaram', 'Queer as Folk' and 'Undeclared'. His film work includes 'The Gentlemen', 'Pacific Rim', 'True History of the Kelly Gang', 'Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire' and 'The Lost City of Z'.
